• What fittings will I require?
• Each door will require the following:
  
  Internal Doors
  - Hinges
  - Handles
  - Latch, mortice lock or bathroom lock
  
  External Doors
  - Hinges
  - Nightlatch
  - Mortice lock or deadlock
  - Lever handles or door knob
  - Letterplate
  - Knocker
  - Chain
  - Door viewer
  - Trapper bar
  - Weather seals

• Can I use my existing locks/latches?
• Yes. There is no reason why you can't use existing fittings as long as they are in good working order and the finish matches your new handles. You also need to check that they are compatible with your new handles.

• What type of handle do I want?
• There are 3 main types of handles:
  
  - Lever on rose
  - Lever on backplate
  - Mortice knob

• What function do you require from your handle?
• Handles can operate in 3 ways:
  
  - Latch. A non locking handle which would be used on the majority of internal doors.
  - Lock. A locking handle used when you require a door to lock with a key.
  - Bathroom/Privacy. A turn and release system for locking a bathroom door. The "Turn" is fitted inside the door as a locking mechanism and the "Release" is fitted to the outside of the door so that access can be gained in an emergency.

• What finish do you want?
• It's no longer just the standard brass or chrome finish available, you can choose from a wide range of finishes in most handles and fittings. Decide on a finish that will compliment your existing fixtures and fittings. Finishes available are:
  
  - Polished or Satin brass
  - Stainless brass PVD
  - Polished or Satin Chrome
  - Polished or Brushed stainless steel
  - Polished or Satin Nickel
  - Black iron
  - Black Chrome
  - Aluminium
  - Florentine Bronze
  - Antique Bronze or Brass
  - Wood
  - Porcelain
  
  The list goes on - you can also mix and match finishes. For example you can have a polished and satin mix or a chrome & brass mix. Make it your own!!
  
  Hinges, latches & handles can all be supplied in the same or a complimentary finish.

• Can I use any finish outside?
• No. We would recommend that you only use the following finishes externally:
  
  - Stainless brass (25 year guarantee on finish)
  - Solid unlacquered brass (this will require regular cleaning with Brass polish)
  - Black Iron
  - Stainless steel
  - Polished Chrome
